Viskatoons
From February 2016 - March 2016 I was fortunate enough to get a gig animating the first season of a new sketch comedy show produced for SBS at Viskatoons called 'Suspect Moustache'.
This was my first true experience working in a real studio environment.
And I loved it.
I am generally a 3D animator, however 'Suspect Moustache' was a 2D animated show which presented me with some completely different challenges.
- The show was being animated in ToonBoom Harmony, a program I had never used before.
- My freehand drawing skills are not very good
- I had 6 weeks to do my work
Initially I was skeptical about my ability to get the job done, and throughout the whole time I definitely had times where I grew frustrated with my lack of drawing skill (especially at the beginning). However, not only was I able to learn the program at a rapid pace, but my drawing skills actually improved quite a bit.
Each episode of 'Suspect Moustache' was roughly 5 mins long and by the end of my 6 weeks there I had animated roughly the equivalent of an entire episode by myself which I am quite proud of, considering the learning curve.
